Emil Graesholm. Editor-in-chief and co-founder.

Emil GræsholmEmil is head of section at the Danish Department of Defence on political economy. He has previously worked as a research assistant with the Centre of Governance and Human Rights, University of Cambridge, on governance and public policy, and at the Institute of Political Science, University of Copenhagen, on issues of political risk of finance and trade. Emil has interned with a public policy think tank and worked as project manager for the Global Poverty Project. A board member of the Network for Political Economy, Emil holds a master’s degree with distinction in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a BA Honours in Politics from University of Cambridge.

Basim Al-Ahmadi. Chief Relations Officer and co-founder.

Basim Al-AhmadiBasim was previously the Editor of Bonds & Loans, an expert publication on Emerging Debt Capital Markets. He forged partnerships with the world’s most reputable investment banks, asset management firms and corporations. Basim achieved a First Class Honours in Politics with International Relations from the University of York. He subsequently obtained his Masters in International History from the London School of Economics (LSE). At LSE he was the President and co-founder of the LSE Political Risk & Investment Society. Prior to studying at LSE, Basim did an internship at the corporate law firm Greenberg Traurig Maher LLP. During this experience, Basim came to appreciate that investors are often held back by unstable political events and corrupt regulatory environments. This influenced his motivation to provide clarity and assurance to those who seek to be rewarded for risking their capital to help local start-ups, grow industries and contribute to global prosperity. In his free time, Basim is an avid reader of US presidential history and is also a keen football player.

Evan Abrams. Chief Operations Officer and co-founder.

Evan AbramsEvan was previously a strategy consultant with Anant Corporation, where he helped companies streamline and grow their online operations. He has interned at the United States Senate, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and SRI World Group. He is particularly interested in international monetary and trade policy. Evan also closely follows the private space sector, on which he completed a master’s thesis. He is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at the Georgetown University Law Center. He holds a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Sammy Halabi. Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder.

Sammy HalabiSammy has served as a Compliance Analyst with the G8/G20 Research Group at the University of Toronto. Sammy has an avid interest in the Middle East having lived in Kuwait for some time. He is also a specialist on the Balkans, visiting the region on a number of occasions and conducting independent research within Kosovo. Sammy holds an MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics. He received an undergraduate Honours BA from the University of Toronto in Economics and International Relations with High Distinction. In his free time, Sammy is passionate about playing volleyball, travelling, and seeking out new experiences.

Caroline Gutman. Editor.

Caroline GutmanCaroline works as a Fund Analyst for Morningstar, an international financial research company, where she covers broad-basket exchange-traded products. She holds an MSc in International Relations with merit from the London School of Economics, and completed her dissertation on China’s role in South Sudan’s statehood. She also holds a BA in Chinese and Political Science, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Washington University in St. Louis, and has spent considerable time traveling and working in China. In her spare time, Caroline is a freelance photographer and can often be found cycling around the boroughs of London.

Laura Britton. Editor.

Laura BrittonLaura recently completed her MSc in History of International Relations at the London School of Economics. Previously, she served as Advocacy Policy Director and as Press Secretary at the Truman National Security Project in Washington, DC.  Laura has also worked with the US Department of State under the US Mission to the OECD.  A proud native of the Golden State, she holds a BA in Economics and International Relations, High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California, Davis.

Matthew Schubert. Editor.

Matthew Schubert, editorMatt is a public relations professional based in Washington, DC. He previously worked at King’s Academy, a boarding school in Jordan. He has interned for the Middle East Broadcasting Center’s chief correspondent in Washington, DC and in the office of United States Congressman John Tierney. During his undergraduate studies, he served as managing editor for the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs. In addition to his full-time job, Matt leads tours of Washington, DC for groups of international visitors. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in international politics with a certificate in Arab studies from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Laura Engshuber. Editor.

Laura EngshuberLaura recently completed her LLM with distinction in international law, focusing on human rights law and international criminal law, at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, she studied international relations, history, and European studies at Georgetown University, and received the Thomas T. Helde Medal in German and European Studies. She has interned at the United Nations Environment Programme and has worked as a journalist and in several editorial positions, including as executive editor, at her college newspaper, The Hoya. She will shortly be moving to Cambodia for a fellowship with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

Gwen Schwartz. Editor.

Gwen Schwarz, editorGwen specializes in web design and graphic design. For the past two years she has worked with a smart phone startup called Dream Mobile and assisted the company with branding, web graphics, and copy-writing. Last fall, she interned in the creative department of a public relations firm in Boston, MA, while working for a legal placement agency. Next fall, Gwen will be working part-time for the Vancouver Economic Commission building a web platform that will serve as part of the Commission’s ongoing redevelopment project. Gwen is currently pursuing a Masters of Digital Media at the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver, BC. She holds a BA in Art History from Georgetown University.

Raman Singh Mukkar. Communications Strategist.

Raman Singh MukkarRaman is currently pursuing a Masters of Professional Communication (MPC) from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. The MPC program addresses the growing need for formally qualified communication specialists to plan, implement and oversee organizational communication at an advanced level. Raman’s research interests lie in studying media representations of South Asian women through the lens of discourse and ideology. She completed an undergraduate Honours BA from the University of Toronto in History, English and South Asian Studies with High Distinction. Raman has recently served as a Social Media Specialist with ING Direct Canada and an Outside Sales Representative for ZnetLive Solutions. In addition, Raman has an avid interest in education, marketing, brand management, as well as, visual arts and design.
